This stone is dedicated to the story of the broom hare:
Spread the word and move the stone!
The Cantabrian hare (Lepus castroviejoi) is a species of hare that only occurs in the north of Spain (in the Cantabrian mountains). There you will find them up to a height of up to two thousand meters.
If it is too cold in the winter, they descend the mountain to less cold places.
The broom hare is vulnerable in Spain with their numbers dwindling. Via this stone I want to give this beautiful mammal extra attention.”
This stone started travelling on 2019-07-09.
Besides the travelling stones, there are also “resting stones” with stories, placed on the trail. Together all these stones form the international art routes.

“The broom hare (Lepus castroviejoi) is part of a series travelling miniature stones depicting endangered or vulnerable animals in Europe. I want to bring attention to these special animals through this art project.
